Zverev vs Dolgopolov by Bulan20
R.16 ATP 500 in Washington between A.Dolgopolov and A.Zverev.
Dolgopolov #73 is a 27 year old from Ukraine. He is a solid ATP player that is a good player on all of the surfaces. He is a fighter; speedy, puts good pace on the ball and puts a lot of effort in always getting the ball back. I like his double-handed backhand but other than that he doesn´t have a partically threat. Played in Atlanta last week where he lost against Soeda (#114) in his first round. He had a good run here in D.C winning in straight sets against Smyczek (#80) and Karlovic (#23). Smyczek is not a ATP-level player in my opinion and if you can get the ball in play against Karlovic you have a good chance at winning.
A.Zverev has been like a rocket on the rankings during 2015. The 18 years old, german sits on #96 but I can see him being top 20-30 at the same time next year. Never heard of him prior to 2015 but this year he have had great deal of success. Saw him in Båstad (clay) where he lost in the SF against Robredo (#21) and last week he lost against the same guy in the ATP 500 in Hamburg. In Washington he played against Nishioka (#136) winning 2-0 and in the last round he caused a great upset, beating K.Anderson (#14) 2-1.
Dolgopolov had a smooth run so far, only getting in a tiebreak against Karlovic, winning both his game in a bit more than a hour. He has the advantage of being in the states playing on HC. Zverev has obviously adjusted nicely to the HC, he beat a in-form Anderson. It was a 2h game but in his age I dont think it will matter to much. I think both of these guys have a pretty even chance at winning this match. ~35% winning chance for Zverev is not fair so I therefore like the odds we are getting for Zverev to win.
