Zenit have started the season off well with 2 wins from 2 matches. In their first game they came from behind and won 2-1 against Dynamo Moscow. Then last weekend they travelled to the Centralnyj Stadion to play Ural. They won this match 4-1 and looked impressive while doing so. Summer signing Artem Dzyuba scored the first then hulk scored twice before Danny came off the bench to score the fourth in the 91st minute of play. Manager Andre Villas-Boas has no injury concerns but he continues to be frustrated by the foreign players policy that the Russian Football Union (RFU) changed for this season. The new policy means Russian teams are restricted to playing just 6 foreign players at any time during league matches. It seems to be columbian striker Jose Rondon that has taken the brunt of this so far as he has only played 8 minutes of the first 2 league games.
Terek have drew both of their games so far this season drawing 1-1 away to Rostov and then 1-1 at home to Kuban. Kuban went down to 10 men after 67 minutes but Terek couldn't take advantage of this and Kuban held on for the draw. Terek have a few injuries to contend with, with Apti Ahyadov, Fyodor Kudryashov and Juhani Ojala all unable to play against Zenit.
Zenit are clearly the better team with much better players and much more depth in the squad. They are a strong team at home and they won 12 of their 15 league home games last season. They also seem to be in great form and have banged in 6 goals in their first 2 games. I don't see Terek having too much to stop Zenit here and it wouldn't surprise me if Zenit went and scored another 3 or so goals In a comfortable victory.
