Viking vs Aalesund by Luca Garzeli
Berisha was 12 goals in 16 games this season improving from 1 just goal in 24 games from last season. His performance is one of the main reasons to see Viking between the top-5 teams in the league. Against Godset, we could see how young nigerian Abdullahi took his place and the team lost 4-1 against a 10-man team, but he was able to score the guests goal. Was Abdullahi who played in the upfront with Berisha against Aalesund in the 1st leg when Viking won 0-4. In that game Abdullahi scored one and Berisha the next 2 goals.
Viking in Tippeligaen is 2-0-3 in the last 5, and in the last year is 6-3-7 at home. We're talking about a team that is better than Aalesund, but they have to learn how to play without his main striker. Abdullahi and Bodvarsson (perhaps both two in the upfront tomorrow) are 4 goals each this season. There aren't midfielders with a goal in the team, and aren't defenses with a goal. Nobody scores here, only Berisha and some goals by the other forwards. Berisha are 11 goals in the league this season, the rest of the team is 15 goals among all, so far.
Aalesund lost his better player Barrantes, that left the club after 6 years to play in China two weeks ago. The team lost in Kristiansand against Start, but managed to comeback in the last league game when was capable to score 3 goals in 7 minutes to win 4-2 Mjondalen at home against 10 players. Nothing impressive, but at least they have better morale after all. In league they're 2-1-2 in the last 5, but they aren't a big away team. However, in this game we have an interesting h2h:
· Aalseund won the last 2 times they visit Stavanger
· In the last 7 times Aalesund play away against Viking, they only lost 1 (1-0 Berisha's goal)
· The last 4 h2h games between these two teams finished with an away win
For sure away team will need some solid piece in midfield to replace Barrantes, but the Costa Rican player was "only" 3 goals and 2 assists this season, despite I know he was an important part of the team's gamestyle. I think that Viking has other players to score apart of Berisha, but not at the level of Veton, so I think the odds don't reflect very well how this guy impact in the Viking's game. So, as the last h2h showed, isn't so important the home factor. I think that unexperienced coach Fredriksen needs time to organize the team, for this reason we could see some bad games as away team (5:0 Rosemborg, 5:1 Molde).
Probably this game is a home win, but after all, I think that the things aren't entirely clear here. We have to see a couple of things, how Viking play without Berisha at home, how Aalesund can hold the two Viking's strikers...
Worth it to try for me.
