Karlovic vs Murray by Majorleague
Thats an interesting match, they played against each other back in 2012 in Wimbledon, Murray won it 3-1, but Karlovic was frustrated after this lost, because he was called for foot fault in key moments. In this game, there were 28 aces, Karlovic had only 17 in 46(!) games.
Describe the ace: In tennis, an ace is a legal serve that is not touched by the receiver, winning the point.
Let's see this years tournament. Karlovic became the only player to hit at least 40 aces in three consecutive matches.
1st round vs Ymer 4 sets, 44 games, 42 aces
2nd round vs Dolgopolov 5 sets, 68 games, 53 aces*
3rd round vs Tsonga 4 sets, 49 games, 41 aces
*They played 24 games in the final set, Karlovic had 22 in the final set.
Murray is a player who is in good shape, he had no trobule through the tournament, and he is a player who can keep the ball in play with his great tennis, we can say that he is a great defender. He also has great reflexes and he will be able to touch Karlovic's serves despite he wont return all of his serves, but a touch is enough not to count the serve as an ace.
Murray had 29 aces in 3 matches, only played 10 sets and 87 games, and his 3 opponenets had only 10 aces. It's a bit tricky, i know, because he didnt play against a big server like Karlovic.
For me its Murray in 3 sets, and there will be around 35 games. I expect Murray to stroke around 10 aces, maximum 15-17. It depend on how good Andy will be on Karlovic's serves. I dont see Ivo to record another 40+ ace game..
