Chicago-White-Sox
Alfredo Simon (7-4 with a 3.29 ERA), who takes the mound for the Tigers in the opening game of their four-game series against the Chicago White Sox, is coming off his worst start of the season, as the right-hander yielded 8 hits and 7 runs, while walking three over 2 2/3 innings of a 3-14 loss against the Yankees last Saturday.

On the other hand, he pitched well in most of his previous six starts at Comerica Park (4-1 with a 1.58 ERA) and went 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA in two starts against the White Sox this season.

Adam Easton is 3-for-7, with 1 RBI against Simon, Emilio Bonifacio is 2-for-6 with a walk, while Gordon Beckham is hitting .500 (1-for-2) against him, but Jose Abreu, Melky Cabrera, Adam LaRoche and Alexei Ramirez are a combined 6-for-36.

Simon will face a team with obvious problems in offense, as the White Sox were limited to three or fewer runs in nine of their last ten games (3-7) and have .223 BA, with 20 runs and 4 HR in this period.

The Tigers, meanwhile, scored four or more runs in six of their last ten games (5-5) and have .260 BA, with 52 runs and 13 HR over that span.

Carlos Rodon (3-1 with a 3.75 ERA), who will start for Chicago, pitched well in his last starts, as the left-hander gave up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out five over six innings of a 3-2 win against the Rangers last Saturday.Rodon, however, had problems most of his previous four road contests (0-1 with a 6.30 ERA).

The rookie has never faced the Tigers or any of their hitters before.

I think that Detroit will win the opening game of this series with more than one run difference.
