Baltimore vs NY Yankees by Sors
New York will face Ubaldo Jimenez (3-3 with a 3.02 ERA), who pitched well in his previous two starts in June, as the right-hander yielded 3 runs on 10 hits and struck out thirteen over eleven innings at Houston on June 1 (2-5) and in Cleveland last Saturday (1-2).
On the other hand, Jimenez doesn’t have many good memories from his previous six starts against the Yankees, in which he went 1-4 with a 6.16 ERA.
Alex Rodriguez is 2-for-4, with 2 RBI and a walk against Jimenez, Garrett Jones is 5-for-11, with 3 RBI and two walks, Carlos Beltran is 6-for-15, with 2 HR and three walks, Brian McCann is 10-for-34, with a homer, 3 RBI and three walks, Chase Headley is 6-for-21, with a homer, 2 RBI and four walks, while Stephen Drew is hitting .263 against him, but with 2 HR and six walks.
Michael Pineda (7-2 with a 3.33 ERA), who will start for the Yankees, had problems in his previous start at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, as the right-hander gave up 9 hits and 5 runs, while striking out nine over 6 1/3 innings on April 13 (6-5).
Pineda, however, went 2-0 with a 2.56 ERA in seven career starts against the Orioles and gave up 6 hits and 1 run over seven innings in his last start versus Baltimore on May 10 (6-2), with sixteen strikeouts.
I think that the New York Yankees will manage to win the opening game of this series.
