Pittsburgh vs Milwaukee by Sors

Pittsburgh
VS
Milwaukee
The Pirates are in obvious upswing lately, having won thirteen of their last sixteen games, including each of their six games at “PNC Park” in this period.

The hosts scored four or more runs in thirteen of those sixteen outings and have .277 BA, with 34 runs from their previous six games in June.

Andrew McCutchen is 9-for-24, with a homer and 7 RBI in the last seven games, Gregory Polanco is hitting. 381 with 2 RBI, Francisco Cervelli is 6-for-16 with 3 RBI, Jordy Mercer is hitting .333 with 2 HR, while Neil Walker is 5-for-22, but with a homer and 6 RBI.

The Brewers have .268 BA, with 26 runs and 6 HR from their last seven games, but were limited to two or fewer runs in six of their last ten away games.

A.J. Burnett (6-1 with a 2.20 ERA), who will start for Pittsburgh, had problems in his last two starts, as he yielded 16 hits and 9 runs (eight earned) over 10 2/3 innings against the Padres on May 28 (11-5) and the San Francisco Giants last Tuesday (7-4).

On the other hand, Burnett went 2-1 with a 1.69 ERA in four starts at “PNC Park” this season and posted a 3.32 ERA in his last six starts versus Milwaukee.

The Brewers will send to the mound Jimmy Nelson (2-6 with a 4.41 ERA), who gave up 7 hits and 7 runs (six earned) over five innings of a 4-7 loss at St. Louis last Wednesday.

Nelson was outstanding in his first start against the Pirates this season, but had much more problems in his previous start at “PNC Park” on April 17 (3-6).The right-hander surrendered four or more earned runs in five of his last eight starts.

I think that Pittsburgh will manage to win the opening game of this series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
