Juventus vs Barcelona by Rahul
Juventus have completed the league and cup double in Italy and will be looking forward to completing the 2nd treble in Italian history and that can only be done once they are able to pass through the Spanish champions Barcelona. Juventus have been looking forward to this day for the last few years, especially winning the Serie A 4 times in a row, and after Conte resigned; Allegri was signed due to his great performances in the Champions League final with Milan. He has delivered a final in his first year with Juventus itself.
Juventus also have been in great form in the back end of the season, winning games and scoring goals despite sealing off the season 3 weeks before the end. Juventus have been on a great scoring run for the campaign and had only 2 games that they didn't score a 0-0 v Monaco and a 1-0 loss to Parma since the last 4 months. Carlos Tevez, Alvaro Morata and Arturo Vidal have done the bulk of their scoring during this period of time. They have also been supported at crucial times by Pogba, Pirlo, Marchisio, Llorente and Matri. Defensively Juventus were considered as among the best in Europe; but have conceded goals in 9 out of their last 10 games in all competitions. Buffon has been a victim of age with slower reactions than he used to have in the past. Additionally with a 3-5-2 formation; they are vulnerable on the counter attack since their defenders Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini are not the fastest on the block.
Barcelona have also completed the double and will be looking to complete the treble for the first time in the career of Luis Enrique as manager as well as first major titles for Luis Suarez in Barcelona. Barcelona's front 3 of Neymar, Messi and Suarez have been on song for the entire season; scoring the most goals for any trio ever in the history of club football. The trio have scored 25 out of the 28 goals that Barcelona have scored in the UEFA Champions League; which just speaks volumes. Since the winter break, Barcelona have only failed to score in one game which was against Malaga back in February. Their performances have been nothing short of spectacular; and that is what everyone is expecting in this game.
Barcelona will also have their cup keeper Ter Stegen in goal for this fixture. He has looked to be a bit unstable in goal, leaking 9 goals in his last 9 games including against Madrid, PSG, Man City, Villareal, Atletico Madrid and Ajax this campaign. While you can say they are good teams, he has shown to be vulnerable on set pieces and counter attacks and especially since he is a bit shorter; he tens to have goals conceded in the top corners of the games.
With both teams looking for victory in this game, you cannot but feel that both teams will score 1 goal each as they both look for glory in the UEFA Champions League Final.
