Malacateco vs Suchitepequez by Dajkula
In first round of the Guatemalan Clausura semi-finals Malacateco welcomes Suchitepequez. The hosts are the favorite as is usually the case in this highly home favored league. Even the worst teams in this league are strong hosts so Malacateco has good chances to take a favorable result. Malacateco finished 6`th in the Clausura with 29 points and 8-1-2 home score. They finished the league on a high losing just once in the last 7 games and clinched the last play-off place. Their last 4 home matches were won and with 7 goals scored they haven`t conceded once.
Suchitepequez finished third with 38 points but as it is usually the case they do badly away from home. With 2-4-5 and 8:21 goal difference their score is not that bad but their away form is. From the last 6 away matches Suchitepequez has managed to lose 5 of those and conceded 17 goals while have scored just 1. They even lost to Malacateco just a week ago by 3:0 though I must say they missed 5 regular players then.
Neither of these teams do very well in the play-off and rarely pass the first round but with the current form of both the hosts look good.
Malacateco has all players available besides important attacker Ricardo Rocha(33-7, second scorer) who is suspended though his form was not great lately.
Suchitepequez has more problems I would say as the defender Carlos Barros (def.19-1) is injured, defender Rene Maltés(30-1) suspended and their ultra scorer Emiliano López(37-24) is very questionable. He has been injured for 3 weeks and if he plays it will not be the entire match.
Malacateco won 3:0 in the last match and won 4 of the last 5 against Suchitepequez at home, they should deliver.
