Kansas vs Cleveland by Sors

The Kansas City Royals look to avoid third straight loss for the first time since Aug. 2014, although this might not be so easy task for the home team, given the fact that the Royals will send to the mound Jason Vargas (2-1 with a 5.95 ERA), who had some problems in his previous four starts in 2015.

On the other hand, the right-hander pitched well in his last start against the Indians, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits over five innings in a 6-2 win at Cleveland on April 27.

Vargas, who went 2-1 with a 4.04 ERA in six starts against Cleveland over the last three years, can rely on sufficient support from his teammates, as Kansas City have .296 BA, with 128 runs from their previous twenty five games this season and scored four or more runs in six of their last seven games.

Cleveland, meanwhile, scored 36 runs in their last seven games, but the Indians were limited to three or fewer runs in seven of their twelve away games this season.

Danny Salazar (3-0 with a 3.32 ERA), who will start for Cleveland, had problems in his last start versus Kansas City, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs over six innings on April 29.

It’s not a big surprise actually, given the fact that Salazar posted a 5.33 ERA in his previous five starts against Kansas City.

And something else: Kansas City’s bullpen posted a 1.00 ERA in the previous twenty five games this season, while Indians relievers have posted a 3.69 ERA.

I think that Kansas City will win the opening game of this series against the Cleveland Indians.
