Juventus secured the Serie A title during the weekend by defeating Sampdoria on away ground. Vidal scored the winning goal in the first half itself and the match was balanced with few chances from both sides. Juventus once again relied on their solid defence to maintain the 0-1 scoreline and this victory allows them to put all their focus on the Champions League now. Asamoah (6/0 m), Caceres (10/1 d), Pogba (22/7 m) and Romulo (2/0 m) will miss out.

Real Madrid defeated Sevilla during the weekend by a score of 2-3 on away grounds. They were already leading by 1-2 at half time and both teams created lots of chances but Real Madrid were more efficient in front of goal. This victory keeps them in second position in La Liga and they remain in the title race. The Spanish will miss two important players who have been much in form for them this season notably Modric (16/1 m) and Benzema (28/15 f, 2nd top scorer). However, they do have other alternatives such as Kroos (33/2) and Hernandez (20/6 f).

Juventus have not lost any home game this season in the Champions League while Real Madrid have not lost any away game in the Champions League this season. Juventus rely heavily on their solid defence while Real Madrid rely heavily on Ronaldo (32/42 f). If Juventus manage to camouflage Ronaldo's importance, I believe the hosts can achieve a decent result in this game. They have some of the best midfielders in the world notably Pirlo (18/4 m) and Vidal (28/7 m) and they cannot be underestimated at all. In attack, they have an in-form striker, Carlos Tevez (31/20), who is also currently the leading top scorer in Serie A.

To sum it up, I believe Juventus are a well balanced team in both defence and attack. Morale is really high in Italy at the moment and they will be motivated to give their best in this competition. Juventus coach Allegri was appointed especially for this job as they wanted to impose their dominance in European competition as well. Last season, when they played against Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage, they drew the home game 2-2 and lost at Bernabeu 2-1. The defeat at Bernabeu was a sore one as they had a player suspended and Ronaldo was awarded a penalty. Otherwise, they had given a solid performance.

In this context, I believe Juventus, with the support of the home crowd, can get a decent result in this first leg covered with asian handicap.
