Morecambe vs Southend by TFB
Southend are currently on a dream run of 7 successive wins without even conceding a goal. Manager Phil Brown has referred to this run as "close to utopia" with it seeing Southend go from play-off candidates to automatic promotion hopefuls after knocking Wycombe out of the top 3 for the first time in a long time. This excellent run has also seen them beat promotion rivals Bury 1-0, also away from home.
Defender John White (41/0) returns for Southend but defender Adam Thompson (28/0) and striker Jake Cassidy (17/0) are out. Left back Ben Coker (31/1) can play after last week's red card was overturned.
Brown says "The spirit and camaraderie here is very similar to that we had at Hull when we won promotion into the Premier League - there are no individual superstars, it's all about a team of lads pulling together." - I believe they will.
Morecambe currently lie in 12th position and have nothing really to play for. Their form recently has been poor with only 1 win in 7, suffering 5 defeats in the process. Their overall home record is worse than i thought, currently lying in 20th position for home performances.
Defenders Edwards and Parrish could both be missing with them having 75 appearances this season between them. 39 year old midfielder Stuart Drummond will definitely play as he is retiring at the end of the season so this will be his farewell game. This will be Drummond's 14th game of the season.
Southend's away record is the 2nd best in the league and with a run of 7 straight wins surely they can grind out 1 more to see them promoted into League One next season.
