Portuguesa vs Caracas

Venezuela: Primera Division

Away Win @1.73.

Playing as visitors today, which usually would be slightly worrying in this league, however, Caracas are an exception.. They have the best record for away performances in the league. So far they have played 8 away games and have 6 wins and just 1 draw & 1 loss. They have scored 9 and leaked just 3. They've been very impressive away from home in recent months, even against the stronger clubs. Now they visit the weakest team in the division, Portuguesa, I don't doubt they will collect all 3 points.

Caracas are in outstanding form recently, they've been unstoppable.

They have won their last 6/6 games, on a very good streak currently and their team morale and spirit is as good as their recent performances.. They should have no problems today. They sit 1st in the league, with an 11-2-2 record from 15 games. They have the best defence in Venezuela at the moment, just 9 goals conceded so far since returning to the league, whilst scoring 19 themselves (+10 gd).

The home side sit 1 point above bottom place (excluding Estudiantes M, who got a 9 point reduction) and are the weakest team in this league. They usually finish bottom and always struggle at this level..

On the other hand is Caracas, they are one of the biggest clubs in the country and have more titles under their belt than any other team. However they are without being Champions for a few years now... That could change very soon.

They have already certified qualification for the Copa Libertadores after their most recent win over Llaneros. This was a massive boost for their team and their momentum is likely to continue, after several very promising performances. Now they focus on the title. They are still tangled in the race with both Zamora & Dep Tachira, who sit 2nd and 3rd place.

The good news for Caracas is they have an 'easy' game today and face a poor side... A brilliant chance for them to gain 3 points, which is much needed as Dep Tachira have 1 game in hand and are only 1 point below... So Caracas need this win just to maintain their lead... While they play this game, fortunately for them, 2nd and 3rd place Zamora & Dep Tachira play each other... This makes it an even better chance for them today to keep themselves at top spot and secure 3 points, whilst 2nd and 3rd have a tough game against each other.

They are the better team, BY FAR, and have everything to play for, potentially their season clinging onto this result.. and they know it.. They have 6 points available to get and that includes this game today and then their last game, at home against Dep Tachira. They are every unlikely to crumble now, after reading manager's and player's interviews about this game it seems they are very motivated and very certain they will get all 3 points today. They know how important it is and have been working on their game very hard in the past week.. They say they took last game as a warning shot (as they conceded 2 goals) as it broke their run of 5/5 wins with clean sheets (they still won 3-2); they've been working and training hard to improve their game all week. A very well organised team, which has reflected in the amount of games they have won, and the few goals they have conceded.

They have a brilliant H2H record against the home side.

From a total of 16 H2Hs, home and away, Caracas have won 13, drawn 2 and lost just 1 single game... Now the only loss was in 2001, as was 1 of the draws. The other draw was in 2008.... All the other 13 game have been wins for Caracas.. which really demonstrates the gulf in quality here, and the difference of size between the two clubs.

Caracas have won all 6/6 of the most recent H2Hs, which goes back to 2008.

Their most recent H2H was a 5-2 win to Caracas (at home) a few months back.
