Zawisza Bydgoszcz vs Cracovia by Raymond Fire
Playing at home today, where they are strong (won the last 3 and unbeaten in their last 5). The opposition, Cracovia, are a VERY poor team when playing away from home, and in the midst of a minor club crisis. All season they have just 1 win on the road, 4 draws and 9 losses.. The worst away record in the entire division. From their last 10 away games they have 8 losses and just 1 draw and 1 win (the only win was a friendly).. They really don't travel well and have been very poor on the road this season, particularly in recent months.
Their last 5 games in general, home and away, have ended in 4 losses and just 1 win. The only win was a 3-2 brawl, which, despite playing at home they were the much worse team and struggled for possession the whole game.. Very lucky to end up winning.
The away side's bad form has been affecting their morale and motivation. After a long time of poor management and terrible team spirit and dedication, their manager was let go and replaced (just a couple of days ago)... Although in the long term this is probably a good thing for them, I don't think the new coach will be able to do much in such a short space of time.. He's only had about 48 hours in charge.. The away team's players have been very unmotivated and not wanting to play games or train.. Whether this has been the reason for their bad results or vice versa i'm not sure.. but either way they are playing terribly.
As for the home side, they have been a very pleasant surprise recently... They have been playing good football since taken over by Lech Poznan's manager this season. Since the return to the league in 2015 they have played 9 home games, only in their most recent game (to league leaders & champions, Legia) did they finally take a loss.. And that was away from home. Prior to that they had 6 consecutive wins (some really tough games too).
Their manager and captain both seem very positive despite their recent loss breaking their amazing run. They both made it clear that this fixture in particular is their priority now and if they had to break their momentum with a loss then they are ''glad it came early against Leiga''. Now they will focus all their attentions to this game, a derby, their last home game in the league.
Despite the home teams overall league position they are the side in much better form and confidence; that combined with the home advantage they should be bigger favourites for this game.
The home team have been taking 3 points from some of the best teams in the division lately and really proving themselves since returning to the league in 2015. They are the better side with the better squad, a team who qualified for Europa football. Cracovia, on the other hand, dodged relegation last season by the skin of their teeth.. They are strong candidates to be relegated this season.
H2H wise, Zawisza have played this opposition twice at home in league fixtures.. Both in 2013.. and both wins with a 2 goal margin (2-0 & 3-1).
