Dundalk are one of the most successful teams in this league and they are the reigning champions. They have started the season in good fashion as they are top of the league table, with six victories and two draws in eight matches played till now. Despite taking a two-goal lead in their last game against Shamrock Rovers, it finally ended in a disappointing 2-2 draw and main goalkeeper Rogers (8/0) was shown a red card for a dangerous foul. Since the latter is suspended, second goalkeeper Sava (1/0) will protect the net today. Otherwise, there are no other missing players in the squad.
Galway are newcomers in this league and things did not start well for them as they suffered two consecutive defeats in their first two games. However, they bounced back in their third match by defeating Drogheda but then suffered four consecutive defeats in the league. They slightly improved in their last game as they defeated Limerick to gain their second victory of the season. Cantwell (0/0 d), O'Connell (6/0 d) and Molloy (6/0 m) are injured while Ludden (3/0 d) and Sinnott (7/0 m) are doubtful to play.
Galway have a poor defence as they conceded at least one goal in seven of their last eight league games and failed to score in four of them. Besides, they have played three away games this season in the league and lost all of them without scoring any goal while conceding at least two goals in all of them. Dundalk are still undefeated this season and have one of the best defence and attack till now as they conceded only three goals while scoring fifteen goals in eight games played. With home advantage, Dundalk should be able to obtain a victory and probably by more than one goal.
