Kasimpasa vs Besiktas by Keyvay

A Turkish Super League game between hosts Kasimpasa and title challengers Besiktas.

Anyone following Turkish football must have heard of how Besiktas is slowly being pushed out of the title challenge, and have great problems. Yes, the team lost a great deal of points in the last two games. But so does every other team, and in a league where the leader has 58 points in 26 games, you can expect the teams to keep dropping points. Besiktas is still in this.

A recent head coach change in Kasimpasa saw the ex Sportive Director of Besiktas (who was working as a commentator recently) Onder Ozen to take the seat of head coach of Kasimpasa. During his time as a commentator in the past weeks, even the newly appointed Kasimpasa head coach had stated that this will be an extremely difficult game for Kasimpasa, and that a Besiktas win was almost inevitable. There is a question mark to whether Onder Ozen was a right choice, but how his team reacts remains to be seen.

News will have you believe that Besiktas are no longer up for winning the title, but football doesn't revolve around the statements of media. And its no good to place bets according to the news.

I would have written these in the boldest of fonts if I could, but here are some media unrelated facts about the match:

- Kasimpasa defense plainly sucks. Not really much to explain here, watch any Kasimpasa game and you'll see how the central defenders are unable to clear the balls, and give space to through passes. This reflects on the points table -> 51 goals conceded in 26 matches.

- Besiktas is simply the better team. Gokhan Tore missing is a big blow for Besiktas, but any number of quality players are just ready to take his place. Not to mention the (somewhat overrated imo) goalscoring

machine Demba Ba (Was announced Demba will play just this morning).

Expect plenty of goals to be scored and prepare yourselves for an entertaining game. But Besiktas players will want to show they are still in the title race, and you can expect them to bring the 3 points home to do it.

That's a very one sided preview probably written by a Besiktas fan. Demba Ba is out of form and has been doing almost nothing for some time. Moreover, players are very tired and frustrated having been knocked out of EL and dropping points in domestic league as well. Onder Ozen knows BJK very well and I am sure he has some plans to follow. Sure, how players will react to him and his prefered playstyle remains to be seen, but Kasimpasa is never pushover. New manager almost always means something positive in first few games.

With Ba out of form and Tore missing, I can't see Besiktas scoring

Thanks for the feedback. I'd like to defend some of my points which you found deceptive.

This is a match between a team that has to win, and a team who has no true purpose. Besiktas are still in the title race, and Kasimpasa have avoided relegation and cannot aim for a European qualification.

Besiktas played its last match on April 6th. A 12 day break should be enough for a team in the title battle to both be rested and be prepared mentally.

I have to agree with Demba being out of form, but the statements he had made during the week, and the special individual training he has been r
