St. Louis vs Milwaukee by Sors

The Brewers will give the ball to Mike Fiers (0-1 with a 9.00 ERA), who had problems in his first start this season, as the right-hander yielded 5 runs on 7 hits over five innings against the Pirates last Friday (2-6).

But while his problems against the Pirates are well known (2-3 with a 6.59 ERA in his last six starts against Pittsburgh), Fiers is doing much better against St. Louis.

The right-hander went 2-1 with a 1.30 ERA in four starts and two relief appearances versus the Cardinals over the last three years, allowing 10 hits and 4 runs (three earned) while striking out twelve over 13 2/3 innings in two starts against St. Louis in 2014.

John Lackey (0-0 with a 6.00 ERA), who will start for the Cardinals, is 1-1 with a 5.54 ERA in two starts versus Milwaukee in 2014, but the right-hander gave up only 2 runs on 7 hits over seven innings in his last start against the Brewers at Busch Stadium on Aug. 3, 2014 (3-2).

Carlos Gomez (.273 BA, 1 HR, 4 RBI in the last seven days) is out for the Brewers.

I expect less than 17 hits in the last game of this series between the Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers.
