Piter vs Kingsley by Tennisguy

This is a round of 16 match from the Pelham ITF tournament(clay) between Katarzyna Piter from Poland and Raveena Kingsley from USA.

I am a bit surprised that Kingsley is yet again undervalued given that she is a very talented player and she will be facing Piter who is far from being in any good form.

Piter defeated Alexandra Stevenson in the first round 6-0, 2-6, 6-3. It was far from being an impressive win considering Stevenson in her entire 20 years of professional tennis has a record of 48 wins and 70 losses on this surface. Sure Piter was a decent player 2 years ago but injuries and other problems have stopped her from progressing and now she has a lot of problems finding her past game. This year she is 2-4 on clay so I don't really know why she is such a big favorite today.

Kingsley defeated Dia Evtimova in the first round 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. She did have problems in the start of the game adjusting but once she did that it was smooth sailing for her. Her service is pretty solid and she even managed a couple of aces. In terms of power I think she can dictate the majority of the points against Piter who usually just wants to keep the ball in play until her opponent makes the mistake.

Overall the odds here are again to good for Kingsley so once again I am going to back her and hopefully it will pay off. pin

I have no idea what is going on with this match. It has been delayed about 2 times and actually all the matches from Pelham have been delayed due to very bad weather. Now I hear rumors of changing the tournmanet to hard court and roving umpires. So no idea if this pick will eventually count or not as the bet it was when I placed it. Either way hope it will get cleared up soon or at least to get some info about it...

it's actually official as this is the news from the ITF site on the order of play of the tournament : REVISED 9 AM, hard courts, reduced scoring method for 1/4 final singles, Doubles event canceled. So games are going to be played on hard court now ...what a mess. :)

Unfortunately Kingsley lost 6-3 6-3 and even though the surface changed from clay to hard court(which seems completely strange to say the least) it seems that pinnacle does cover this in regulations and the bet counts so sadly for me this is lost...
