I wanted to write this tip prior to the game Sevilla-Barcerlona in which I really fancy Sevilla to get a result at home and that they would test heavy favourite Barcelona and their defence ( Sevilla fell two goals behind after 35mins, but the team showed great character/determination to chase the game which ended 2-2; was not afraid to compete offensively man-for-man against Barcerlona. Hence Sevilla at odds of 1.80+ previously on offer has now shortened to 1.61 to beat Zenit.

I have followed Sevilla very closely in their last 11 matches since that entertaining 4-3 defeat to Real Sociedad 22-02-2014. Sevilla trailed twice early each half to lead the game 3-2 78', lost the lead at 82' then lost the game at 90'. What makes Sevilla games attractive/fun to watch in my opinion is the fact that every so often their dodgy backline leak goal(s), they switch into another gear, their frontline are so RELIABLE that very often they recover from bad situations, or chasing the desired win/draw.

After another game where Sevilla conceded 3 goals to lowly ranked Deportivo La Coruna, I believe coach Unai Emery has addressed their defensive issues. We can see in recent results, they no longer give away early lead, they kept 3 clean sheets in 6 games, only conceding 3 goals (prior to 2-2 draw v Barcelona). With this defensive correction, I think Sevilla has become a 'very balanced, very completed team' but what is most important is that they have developed a strong team unity/spirit, a strong sense of confidence/belief that they can match any side on any day, and they back their ability to score (even without big name players).

Past result isn't everything...but 17 wins and 7 draws and NO DEFEAT over 14 months at home in all comps (since 10/02/2014), against the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Valencia...that must say something about the team attitude and ability.

Sevilla in Europa this season 5-0-0 at home, 2-2-1 away. Only ONE defeat. Sevilla will face Zenit in the quarter final, should they advance they will meet imo much weaker oppositions Club Brugge/Dnipro.

Zenit enters Europa Cup having failed to in the group stage of Champions League. Zenit dismissed Dutch Club PSV 4-0 on aggregate and in their last round they defeated Torina, who fell behind 2 goals after midfielder Benassi was red carded 27'. Zenit lost 1-0 away from home, I guess they got the job done but I was hardly impressed given the quality of their opposition. Zenit does not have the quality of players on par with Barcelona or Real Madrid to pose trouble for Sevilla.

"Sevilla at home will certainly want to get a result, they will press for goals and put this tie beyond Zenits reach. Sevilla would not want to repeat last year's mistake dropping the first leg AT HOME BY 2-0 to their local rival Betis"

I'll be backing Sevilla -1.0 @ 2.05, stake 10/10

Meanwhile in the other half we have Dynamo Kyiv/Fiorentina and Wolfsburg/Napoli.

Wolfsburg is favourite to win Europa Cup. Wolfsburg got my attention shortly after they defeated Bayern Munich 4-1. I too have followed their impressive run ( and they have gotten me very healthy profits (9 winning picks, 1 push bet 0-0 v Sportng Lisbon, and one lost bet 1-0 v Augsburg). Wolfsburg press well, even break down/penetrate opponents parking the bus. Wolfsburg are very efficient finding goals. Despite this, Wolfsburg defence really makes me nervous, backline very vulnerable/penetrable even when they faced much weaker opponents than all the current europa quarter-finalists. Drawing BOTH Napoli and Fiorentina in their half is not ideal for Wolfsburg, as Italian clubs are known to defend well and hit teams on the counter. As we saw in the previous round, Inter Milan netted two goals against Wolfsburg. Napoli and Fiorentina arpin
