Mathilde Johansson vs Gasparyan by Tennisguy
This is the final of the Croissy-Beaubourg ITF between Mathilde Johansson from France and Margarita Gasparyan from Russia.
They have never faced each other so far.
Mathilde Johansson was considered the underdog at this tournament in almost all her matches and even though she played very well in all of them she still remains this way in this final. Sure she will be facing a player that has had a good season so far but I just think there are way to much things in favor of Johansson in order for her to take this final. First of all she is playing at home and the crowd will surely support her from start to finish here. There there is the fact that so far she has been as high as 59 in the rankings at one point and without a doubt has much more experience than her opponent today.
To get to this final Johansson defeated Peer 6-2, 6-1, Kulichkova 7-6(4), 3-0(Kulichkova retired at that point), Georges 7-6(5), 6-3 and Beygelzimer 6-3, 7-5. To win against such though opposition and also in straight sets I think she should be given much more credit than she has for this final.
Gasparyan got to this final by defeating Jorovic 6-1, 4-6, 7-5, Kostova 6-3, 6-3, Kristyna Pliskova 7-6(4), 7-5 and Govortsova 6-3, 5-0(Govortsova retired at this score). I guess she is a bit hipped because of her win against Govortsova but considering she played against an injured player that was really struggling the entire match I wouldn't make to much of it.
Like I said, I think that there is to much going in Johansson's favor in this final and the value is just amazing here so she is definitely the way to go.
