John Patrick Smith vs Cunha by Tennisguy

This is a quarterfinal match from the Le Gosier challenger between John Patrick Smith from Australia and Henrique Cunha from Brazil.

They have never met in a h2h match before.

I think there is a very good chance of an upset happening in this encounter. The reason I think that is because Cunha has been playing extremely well at this tournament, serving very well and producing very offensive tennis with aggressive shots. He had to get past the qualif. round and after successfully doing so he defeated Gianni Mina 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 and then Ivo Klec 7-6(3), 6-2.

Smith had a good run two weeks ago when he won the Drummondville challenger but to me he looked a bit tired in his matches in this tournament. He defeated van der Duim 7-6(2), 6-4 in the first round and then he had a difficult match against Gombos 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. I don't think Smith is in his top shape in from the way he performed so far because physically he looks tired. Today he will be facing a player that is in his best shape and I think he will have big problems.

To me Cunha can overpower Smith if he plays at the same level he did so far and if that happens I think he can easily take control of the match and eventually win it.
