Min vs Maria Irigoyen by Tennisguy
In this first round match from the Osprey ITF (USA clay) we have Grace Min from USA playing against Maria Irigoyen from Argentina.
I think Irigoyen has a very good chance of winning today judging by her performances last week and in the qualif. rounds here. In the qualif. rounds she defeated Graham 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-4, Montserrat Gonzalez 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 and Pegula 6-3, 7-6(1). Sure in order for her to defeat Min she will have to play a bit better but it's not like she will be facing a very in form opponent.
Min has had a horrible win so far managing only 2 wins out of 9 matches. She will be facing a player that has a 11-3 record on clay this year and is a clay court specialist. On top of that Irigoyen is a left handed player and that will surely bother Min especially on the return of serve.
Irigoyen has a quarterfinal here in 2010 and even though it was a long time a go I still think it counts for something. Min on the other hand has only played at this tournament once in 2012 and lost in the first round.
I think it will be a tight match that will probably go in to a 3d set and if that happens I think given the fact that Irigoyen is the player with the better physical condition I am going to go with her today.
