Manchester United vs Arsenal by UK-Selections

Manchester United host Arsenal at Old Trafford today in FA Cup quarter finals. For many folks this match is like a final and the winner from this match up is very likely to take the trophy. Arsenal are FA Cup holders from last season and will surely want to repeat that success, while Manchester United is without trophy for some time and this is their only chance to save this season.

Team news:

Manchester United:

Robin Van Persie will not be adding to his three goals against Arsenal since making the move to United, he has failed to overcome an ankle injury. Jonny Evans is the only other absentee for the hosts, he is serving the first of a six-game ban for spitting. Van Gaal has to choose whether to persist with ailing midfielder Angel di Maria, with Adnan Januzaj impressing in his place in successive games.

January recruit Gabriel Paulista is injured for visitors, meaning Per Mertesacker is likely to partner Laurent Koscielny at the back. Wojciech Szczesny is in line to replace David Ospina as Arsenal’s cup goalkeeper, Natxo Monreal could return to the squad after a back injury.

Probable Teams:

United (4-2-3-1)- De Gea; Valencia, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw; Herrera, Blind, Carrick, Young, di Maria, Rooney.

Arsenal (4-2-3-1)- Szczesny; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Coquelin, Ramsey, Cazorla, Ozil, Sanchez; Giroud.

Now, why to expect goals in this match? As I previously said, Manchester United want to win trophy and this is their only chance. Premier League is one horse race where it's unlikely they (Chelsea) will allow a miracle till end of the season considering they lead 5 points to City and game in hand. Arsenal, after losing 1-3 from Monaco in Champions League, their road there is likely finished. It's hard to expect they can repeat the 1-3 result from Monaco and win in France (or better) so this Cup remains their most likely chance for trophy, too. This match in case of draw will be replayed and no one want that because both have some important games waiting for them, particulary Manchested United, who has 3 derby matches in the next 4 rounds - host Tottenham, then visit Liverpool and two home matches vs Aston Vila and Manchester City. Arsenal little easier schedule, but I don't believe they quit their ambitions to win in Monaco, the game is on 17th this month.

Both teams posses big qualities in offense, I was thinking to back Arsenal as I see them more mature in the middle, more creativity, but finally think that both teams can score here and both want to end the job in this match. So, over 2.75 will be my primary choise and I can easily see at least 3 goals in this match!

Very important match, I don't see many goals, just like in three other 1/4 finals played last weekend. I would say draw at HT is likely. But good luck
