Preston vs Manchester United by Stoakesy

Louis Van Gaal takes his diagrams and Manchester United team to face League One Preston North End in the FA Cup 5th round on Monday night. Although Manchester United beat Burnley 3-1 last time out the performance was described as 'miserable' by Man Utd legend Paul Scholes who also criticised Van Gaal for playing Rooney in midfield, especially as Falcao and Van Persie are out of form currently.

Preston boss Simon Grayson has knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup before when in charge of the Leeds team that won their third round clash five years ago. His team are also on a small run of form having won their last three games in a row. Preston are likely to be without the injured Beckford (who was also part of the Leeds United team that knocked out Manchester United) Woods and Robinson.

The Red Devils are missing Michael Carrick and Phil Jones, and have doubts around Daley Blind and Robin Van Persie. This should mean that Falcao gets another chance to show why he was once talked of as a £70 million plus player. On this seasons form so far he would not be much value as a free transfer.

Louis Van Gaal will be looking at the FA Cup as the only realistic chance of silverware this season, and will be expecting to go close to winning it bearing in mind that Chelsea and Manchester City are out. Manchester United have not being playing especially well but have still found ways to win games and against League One opposition I would expect this to continue. I will be backing Manchester United to win by at least two clear goals here to cover a one goal handicap.

United have struggled in every round when they've been away! Preston doing well domestically and with home advantage will be well up for this one off match. For me 100% Preston +1 Asian handicap at evens!!!!!!!
