Blackburn vs Stoke City by Stoakesy

Mark Hughes returns to Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon as his Stoke City team face Championship side Blackburn in the FA Cup fifth round. Hughes was Blackburn boss between 2004 and 2008 before leaving to join Manchester City.

Stoke City look set to rest first choice goalkeeper Begovic to give Butland a rare run out, and will also be without Shawcross, Wilson and Ireland. Blackburn boss Lee Bowyer is missing Spearing, Dunne and Lowe for his teams third game in a week.

On form this should be an away win for the 10th placed Premier League team against the 9th placed Championship team. The stats also back up this opinion as Stoke have won six of their last seven matches against Blackburn (W6 D1). The Potters have also won five and lost none of their last six away FA Cup games against lower division teams.

Stoke are playing attractive football under Mark Hughes, certainly compared to under Tony Pulis, and appear to have too much quality for this inconsistent Blackburn team. Striker Jon Walters loves the FA Cup and has scored ten goals in his last 15 FA Cup games.

I am surprised that Stoke are this big a price for the 90 minute win and will be backing them to progress to the next round with a win here at odds of 2.50
