Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg by Pinstripe

Leverkusen lock horns with Wolfsburg in a match of the 21st round of Bundesliga.

Leverkusen are currently sixth in the league table while Wolfsburg occupy the second place. Leverkusen haven't started the new year the way they would have wished: they have recorded just one victory against Hertha, drawing against Dortmund and losing at Werder Bremen. They seem to be lacking creativity, having only scored twice after the winter break.

Wolfsburg are high on confidence after defeating Bayern and Hoffenheim convincingly and grinding out a draw at Eintracht Frankfurt. Goals seem to be coming easy for Vfl: they have scored eight in their last three in Bundesliga. They look like a strong candidate to qualify for next season's Champions League if they can keep up their fine form. The January acquisition of Andre Schürrle has given Wolfsburg another option in the attack and will also ensure that they don't suffer as badly from Ivan Perisic's injury layoff. Other absentees for die Wölfe are Felipe Lopes and Patrick Ochs.

I was originally going to go for a draw in this match: Leverkusen have already drawn a remarkable eight times this season, and they would probably be content with just one point against in-form Wolfsburg. However, because Leverkusen will be without three of their regular defenders (Toprak, Jedvaj and Wendell) I think that Wolfsburg might narrowly edge this one.
