Darussafaka vs Galatasaray by Lloyds
Darussafaka have been a surprise in Turkish TBL this season being a 2nd team behind Fenerbahce with 9-3 record. They'll host struggling Galatasaray in today's match after losing a close game against Anadolu Efes (73-72), three days ago. Galatasaray disappointed, once again, on the road (84-77 loss to Pinar) and are 1-9 in their last 10 trips.
Turkish giants are on a 6-game slide when playing away from home (in all competitions) and have only 3 victories in their last 10 matches (including those at home). Still, despite all those troubles they managed to advance to the top16 phase in Euroleague which is an important feat for them as they struggle in the domestic competition. A 79-74 win over Olympiakos last week gave them the ticket for the next phase but 182 points allowed in the next two matches after that just exposed their slumping defense. Galatasaray are far from being a good defensive team (allowing 81.2 ppg) but luckily for them the offense is not facing any woes. The hosts, Darussafaka, are surprisingly good at home this season (6-0 record), averaging 84.0 points per game those six matches. With a Tuesday loss to Efes they ended a 5-game winning streak, which lasted for over a month. Majority of their home wins were blowouts except when Besiktas lost by 3 points back in mid-October.
Darussafaka are obviously favorites considering how poorly Galatasaray looked on the road but I expect them to be a bit spent emotionally and physically after dropping a win against Efes. Traditionally Galatasaray fared well when being guests at their city rival's hall (5-3 in all-time series when being the visitors) which is why I predict they'll at least make it a close game, if nothing else.
