Karman Kaur Thandi vs Ayaka Okuno by Tennisguy

This is a first round match from the Pune 2 ITF tournament (hard) between Karman Kaur Thandi from India and Ayaka Okuno from Japan.

These players have never met before in a h2h match. Thandi had to p;ay 2 qualif matches to get to the firt round and she won those matches against Negreanu 6-4, 7-5 and Rana 6-3, 6-3. She has a record of 16-6 on hard this year and in this match I think she has a very good chance of getting the victory.

Okuno is a player that manages good results mostly when playing in Japan so I wouldn't consider her in such a good form. Last week she lost in the first round at the Navi Mumbai ITF tournament to Papamichail who was actually in a very bad shape and that matchup was very sluggish to say the least. I don't think that Okuno will be any better today considering such a short time has past from then. On the other hand Thandi managed a very impressive win last week at the Navi Mumbai tournament when she defeated Ellen Allgurin 6-1, 6-0 in the qualif. stages. I think that in terms of who is the player in the better form there is no doubt that Thandi has the advantage and considering she will be playing at home I believe that she will be the more motivated player who will produce the better tennis. For that reason I have to back Thandi in this one and to me these odds are very good and I believe they will drop more in the next hours.
