Southampton vs Manchester C. by TFB

Two of the Premier Leagues leading teams clash at St Marys in a 2nd vs. 3rd match.

Southampton have been the surprise package this season, currently lying 2nd, behind leaders Chelsea. They have a great home record so far of 5-1-0 scoring 17 goals and only conceding 1. This run also included an impressive 8-0 victory over Sunderland. I know you probably think this is a fantastic record but when you look through the teams they have played at home they were all matches against teams in the lower half and regularly against teams in or around the relegation zone at the time. No disrespect to Southampton, they have done great so far this season, but I don't feel they have really been tested yet as they are yet to play Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Man Utd and I think when they do they won't look as good as their record suggests.

Man City have recently shown signs of being the quality side that won the league last season. Their recent 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich will have done them a world of good and they will be hoping to kick on from this win. With Chelsea drawing 0-0 against Sunderland they should see this as an opportunity to claw back 2 points on the leaders which I believe is vital if they are to retain their title.

Sergio Aguero has recently found top form with a midweek hat-trick and he'll be ready to score more goals against the Saints. Silva will still be missing but along with Aguero, they still have players who can hurt Southampton like Navas, Toure and Lampard if chosen as Man City boast one of the best midfields in the league.

I feel 2.40 for a City win is a very generous price

Good shout mate. I fancy City too.

I'd also recommend a 0 Asian Handicap but I feel that City have a habit of winning when they need to. Southampton's fixture list over Christmas is awful, they play all the top teams so I can see them dropping off the pace.

Nice preview and analysis! My sympathy is for Southampton because of Pellé and Koeman. Lets see if they can face the top teams too, I hope they can. GL
