Malmo vs Juventus by Jamesington

Unfortunately this Wednesday night will see the Swedbank stadium likely filled with fans applauding their team's plucky yet fruitless efforts following another European defeat where they have simply been outclassed.

Having watched 3 of Malmo's previous CL group games this year, I can not fault them for effort but they are sadly a class below their group opponents (at least Madrid and Juve). Juventus beat the Swedes 2-0 in Italy and Atletico saw them off 5-0 and 2-0, whilst Malmo did record a victory over Olympiakos at home.

Juve have lost both their previous away matches in the group stage and they are in need of a win to give them the best possible chance of qualifying. Having won 4 of their last 6 games by more than 1 goal (in which none of their opponents were of significantly lower quality than Malmo) I can see Juventus winning by 2 or 3 goals in Sweden. Atletico Madrid were in cruise control for most of their match in Malmo, stepping up a gear in the end of the second half and frankly a 3 or 4-0 victory could easily have been the result.

Paul Pogba has been Juve's outstanding player of late, not just for his stellar performances in midfield but for his finishing too - after netting the decisive goal in the win over Olympiakos he scored twice against Lazio. The Frenchman issued a rallying cry in Gazetto Dello Sport after the Lazio game stating "We have no alternative, we must return from Sweden with three points."

I feel sorry for Malmo and their fans, but this is likely to be another rough night in Skåne. Hopefully they can at least get a goal, but JUVENTUS -1 (EH) AT 1.95 with Unibet is my bet.
