ES Setif vs MC Alger by Jamesington
I stumbled across this fixture rather co-incidentally when discussing African football with a friend with regards to who should win the BBC African Footballer of the Year - ES Setif are the current African Champions having this month clinched their second ever CAF Champions League title.
Understandably they focused their efforts on the tournament and it seems their early season domestic form suffered as a result but ESS have gotten back to winning ways in the past couple of weeks. As a result of their victory in the Champions League Setif will take part in the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco, in December. Whilst a trip to Morocco will not really involve a great deal of travelling they will surely be putting their absolute maximum into the tournament and thus it is important to claim as many points, whilst they are relatively fresh, as they can.
There couldn't be much better opponents for this home game than bottom of the league MC Alger - Alger have lost 4 games in a row and have only claimed 2 away points so far this season.
In their last outings, Setif recorded a win and clean sheet over opponents from the top 5 - contrasting with MC Alger who lost without scoring (they lost their previous match against 11th place Belouizdad, also without scoring).
I think this is a truly great price to back a team that are just finding their feet again domestically after a long Champions League campaign which ended in them being crowned victors.
