Wycombe vs Burton by Jamesington

This is very much a value bet and not recommended to bet high stakes on this outcome (unless your feeling particularly lucky).

This is new coach Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's first match in charge of Burton and he will be looking to start off with a win. The 'new manager effect' is often spoken of and there was little wrong previously at Burton, who sit 6th in the table, so we can expect the away side to put in a good performance trying to impress their new gaffer.

Wycombe are 3rd in the league, having been top, but have not been flawless lately and have only managed to win 1 of their past 3 league matches (and even against Oxford, they had to come from behind to gain the victory). Whilst a 3-1 win away in the FA Cup first round looks impressive on paper, it must be taken with a pinch of salt given that the match was against non-league opposition in Barnet and the home team finished the match with 9 players on the field.

In head-to-head battles, the favour is with Burton who have won the last 3 contests (1-0, 1-2 and 2-0) and Wycombe will be missing two regular starters in CB Aaron Pierre and CM Josh Scowen, who are both suspended. Pierre will be missed in particular, given that he has started every game this season in the heart of the Wycombe defence.

Burton have scored more goals away from home than Wycombe have managed at home and are the 2nd highest away goalscorers in the league. Given that playing at home is supposedly an advantage it is interesting to note that Burton have managed to accumulate 13 points away from home, whilst Wycombe can only boast 2 more than that in home matches! The match is much more even than is being portrayed by bookmakers and we can take advantage of that.

I think there is value in the Burton win due to their new manager, solid away record (5th best in the league compared to Wycombe having the 9th best home record) and their good track record in matches between the clubs.

As for over 2.5 goals, Burton's 8 away matches have featured 24 goals and Wycombe have not failed to score at home in their last five matches so it stands to reason that if Burton are to win the match then there will need to be over 2.5 goals. Not to mention that EVERY time this fixture have been played in Wycombe the match has featured over 2.5 goals.

Be ambitious and go for the value.

@john - You're welcome :) it genuinely makes me really happy to hear someone bet on my tip and won, quite a bit of time goes into researching and writing most of them so it's nice when it pays off. 5 mins left, looking good.
