New Orleans vs LA Lakers by Lloyds

The Lakers travel to face New Orleans in what will be a back-to-back game for them. Kobe Bryant and Co. didn't manage to defeat tough Memphis last night even though they've put up a good fight. The Pelicans ended their 2-game win streak with a loss to Cleveland (118-111) two nights ago. They will be looking to go over 0.500 once again as their current record stands at 3-3.

Los Angeles are 1-6 and still winless on the road. They are not playing well defensively, allowing 111.9 points per game which ranks them last in the league in points allowed. Bryant scored 28 points agianst Memphis but he doesn't get enough support from his teammates which is why the Lakers have won only one game so far. They are also decimated with injuries as starting point guard, Steve Nash, declared himself out for a season while Nick Young (shooting forward) is still out with a thumb injury. The Lakers are 0-3 on the road this season but a favorable tradition when playing the Pelicans in New Orleans could give them some extra boost tonight.

The Pelicans started the season good, especially their best player, Anthony Davis, who is averaging 24.8 points, 13 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 4.2 blocks per game. He is an early MVP candidate and tonight the Lakers frontcourt will be without the answer for him. Pelicans' front court, led by Davis and Omer Asik, is better at rebounding and skill-wise than one of the Los Angeles Lakers which is why the home side is a huge favorite to win this game. The hosts are averaging 99.5 points per game (16th in the league) and are 2-1 at home.

The Lakers are just playing one side of the ball and that is offense. They are the worst defensive team in the league so an uptempo game is their only chance to win tonight. Both teams are at their best when the game is being played in a fast-pace which should give us an interesting high-score match tonight. pin
