I had this match initially down as a home win, as Bristol Rovers have a much more important game at the weekend when they play in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final. Rovers' boss Paul Trollope insist he will put out his strongest side tonight (which may include returning first choice defender and Captain Steve Elliot) and Trollope may well do that but I'm sure whatever team he puts out will be thinking more about Sundays big game. Bristol Will play for and be happy with a Draw tonight.
So it seems to the bookies a Wycombe win tonight is on the cards. But I cant back them without goal machine Jermaine Easter playing. Easter has 22 goals this season and is 2nd in the League Two Topscorers Table, but tonight he is on International duty for Wales and is suspended domestically anyway.
And this is one of the reasons I've turned my attentions to the Under 2.5 Goals Market....
Wycombe's last 2 games ended 0-0, at home to Walsall and at home to Boston Utd ( Who had previously kept 1 clean sheet in about 16 games!! ) so they arent scoring at the moment. Couple that with the fact that 16 of Wycombe's 19 home league games this season (85%) have finished Under. Scoring an average of 1.15 goals per home game, conceding an average of 0.47 goals per home game !!
Bristol Rovers dont travel too well, but theyve kept 11 of their 18 away league games this season Under 2.5. They've scored an average 0.88 goals per away game and conceded an average 1.44 goals per away game.
I would be definately backing Wycombe to win this if Easter was playing but without him I think a draw could be just as likely as a home win which Wycombe need for a play off place, whilst Bristol would be happy with a quite attainable draw and no injuries to take to the Millenium Stadium on Sunday.
The more I think about it, this game could end up 0-0 or 1-1 just as easily as the widely expected home win.
One last thing to bear in mind Wycombe backers .....
Wycombe's most frequent results this season....
1-1 6 Times
2-0 6 Times
1-0 5 Times
0-0 5 Times
0-2 3 Times
Thats..... 11 wins, 11 Draws, and 3 Loses (44% Winners)
Thats..... 25 Unders, 0 Overs (100% Winners)
Odds aren't fantastic @ 1.67 but it looks a good shout...
Good Luck........
