It's sad that a beautiful country like Portugal with such wonderful artists like Mariza, Cristina Branco, Madredeus, just to name a few, almost every year send bad, not competitive songs to the ESC. This year it's different, Portugals participant will be Vânia Fernandes from the beautiful island Madeira (I was there) with the song "Senhora do mar" (Lady of the sea). The song is similar to last year´s winner "Molitva". It's not as good as "Molitva", but also dramatic and passionate and also a prayer with some Fado elements. If the ESC would be a competition only about songs, Portugal would be a contender to win. If we get back to jury voting instead of televoting, Portugal would reach Top 5. If...

Vânia has an excellent voice and her performing is at least equal emotional as Marija Serifovics last year. Unibet gives 1.95 for Portugal to qualify, I guess, they think, o.k. the song is nice, but it's "only" Portugal. My odds would be about 1.40, so this got to be punished. And don't forget, there is a wild-card from the jury, if the song fails to qaulify by televoting. I would like to add a preview from an expert: One of the better ballads, Portugal have followed the format which served Serbia so well last year as closely as possible.
