This is probably the most underrated song (by the bookies) of this year's ESC. For me it´s a certain qualifier, despite the very bad first rehearsal. Paolo Meneguzzi will perform "Era stupendo", a piano-pop ballad.

The song is a rip-off of the song "It can only get better" sung by Amy Diamond, composed by Matt Brann. You can compare both songs on youtube. But it's not my business, the EBU has decided that Paolo can participate in Belgrade and that's it. Paolo has better songs than this one, for example "Musica", performed in San Remo last year, but "Era stupendo" is doing well in almost all polls, people like it. They miss the melodic italian language, because Italy refuses to participate on ESC, and Paolo offers that with his song. Also his good look isn't a disadvantage.

I expect Paolo will get at least 70 points in the semi-final, which should be enough to reach the final, from these countries: Albania, Croatia, Czech. Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Hungary, Iceland, Malta, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden, Turkey and UK (between 3 and 8 points). No points or very few points Switzerland will get from the Eastern block (Belarus, Bulgaria, FYRM, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine). Please note that only 9 songs will qualify directly, the 10. song will be decided by jury votes, so the last placed song (by televoting) could theoretically reach the final. In my oppinion Switzerland has very good chances to get this "wild-card" if Paolo fails by televoting.
