Waterford with last loss to Shelbourne is obligated to win here as they are now 9 points short (with a game in hand) from the leading Dundalk. Shels are also one point above them and Waterford will try to use two back to back home games versus weaker opponents to put a pressure on them. They will today host Monaghan, and in next round Wexford, two teams that should be beaten and i expect Waterford to do it. They are W3-D1-L0 9:4 at home where they failed to beat only Longford in their first home match in the season. As their away performances weren't half as good as their home ones they will need to take most points at home and against Mons there are high chances they will do it. There is no injury worries before this game, only forward Bermingham is suspended.

Mons are team that played most home games of all teams. In seven rounds they were only twice on the road. And still they didn't managed to use that, as their current position shows. They are third from behind, but with six points more then Kildare. But while their home performances were good, away they were awful. Two games, two easy loses, two same results - 0:3. Yes, they've met two strong teams, Dundalk and Longford, but today they will meet strong team again and i don't think they will be satisfied with final result. Monaghan has major problem with efficiency, they failed to score in three games, and this season they didn't managed to score twice in one game (including Cup). In addition, Waterford has one of the best attacks, and i expect them to score few today.

Conclusion: Neither team has problems with absentees, it's first team on first team, and Waterford looks better. They also have home advantage. Mons managed surprise beating favorized Sporting in last round, but only goal was scored against the run of play and Mons didn't looked good. Waterford should be able to exploit their mistakes and win this comfortably.
