There I go again on another underdog, well in MLB it’s the best choice, and this one also seems to me quite probable. Worth a risk really. Why? In this case mainly because of the bullpen.

Tim wakefield will start the game for the red sox – he hasn’t been performing at his best lately – he has a season ERA of 4.06, but more important then that, he as been having many problems with the control (allowing a lot of BB) and allowing a big number of hits. Wakefield is able, in my opinion to do better, but even if he does, their team-mates aren’t helping him that much lately.

On the Toronto blue jays mound will be Burnett – he has a season ERA of 6.07 (that’s the reason why the blue jays are underdogs here), but that stat is mainly because of a big slump he had against Oakland on the beginning of April, since then he had not performed brilliantly, but striked out a lot and have been very similar to wakefield. With the note the wakefield has performed worse against the blue jays then Burnett against the red sox.

When we look at the hitting department, we see not many differences here, both teams have terrible records in the last games, but one difference the red sox game is much more based on their offensive then the blue jays.

The really big difference we se here is the bullpen, where the blue jays are much better – and as if I believe it will happen both pitchers stay in the game 5,6 innings at most, the bullpen can prove decisive, so even a team batting so poorly as the blue jays can take advantage of such a weak bullpen, and in my opinion , that’s where the real difference tonight will be.
