CAN SIVAS MAKE A MIRACLE?

First of all: This is the most important game of the weekend in Turkish League. If Galatasaray wins they will be having the greatest chance in finishing the league in first position and labeled asTurkish Champion.

There are 4 very big football clubs in Turkey as you know:- Galatsaray, Fenerbahce, Besiktas and also Trabzonspor but Trabzonspor does not make rating as much as those 3 Istanbul teams I mentioned. No football fan in the beginning of any season dreams that any team could finish as leader in the end of the season except those 4. (Please Trabzon fans do not take me wrong) This year a miracle almost could happen as Sivas still a candidate of this year’s Turkish League Champion but I can not believe they can beat Galatasaray on this Sunday. And I have some reasons why this can not be possible.

First of all I would like to bring into your attention that their record against Istanbul teams is almost awful.

Fenerbahçe: 1 - Sivas: 0

Galatasaray: 2 - Sivas: 0

Beşiktaş: 1 - Sivas: 2

Sivas: 1 - Fenerbahçe: 4

Sivas: 1 - Beşiktaş: 2

As you see above Sivas could only manage to beat Besiktas 1-2. But let me remind what happened just earlier than that game during the mid week. Liverpool beat Besiktas with 8 goals and broke the Champions League record. And Besiktas had awful days and could not concentrate to the following league match and lost at home to Sivas 1-2. I do not count it as players of Besiktas were totally without confident and got depressed with all criticisms from the merciless Turkish media. Ok now we understand something here that SIvas is not the team of big games even though they have a fantastic team spirit and fabulous home record. Actually it is really true they are playing from the hearth and always showing a great desire in all games. I can not skip this part without congratulating them one by one including their coach Bulent Uygun who is a gentleman patriot. I am sure they will show a good performance in this match too.

From the other side we are facing a team who achieved to beat Fenerbahce at home with a result of 1-0 that determined by Nonda’s header in 38. minute after a big mistake of Volkan the goal keeper of Fenerbahce. Galatsaray completely deserved the result by showing how much they wanted to be the league champion. I can not ignore the defense of Galatasaray as Servet almost did not make any mistake and could easily manage to avoid all probable dangers. Emre the other defender was also like senior Galatasaray player by showing how he was confident with cooling every ball treated him like fire. I guess Galatasaray has the best defend in Turkish leagues as they only conceded 20 goals so far in 34 games. I mentioned about Servet and Emre the new transfer from Ankaragucu but Hakan Balta and Song are also an additional brick to this unbreakable wall. Galatasaray finished many games this year with 1 goal and this is a proof of their achievements mostly depended on their defend. I should also mention a fantastic player in Galatasaray Aykut as he is one of the most successful goal keeper in Turkish League this year. Aykut is Galatasary’s new goal keeper conceded 2 goals in last 9 matches and has a record of not conceding any in last 516 minutes.

When it comes to predict this game I can see Galatasaray will very hardly concede goal due to their strong players at back and with a high motivation which got formed before Fenerbahce derby game. They will manage to score at least a goal thanks to Nonda who is one of the smartest striker that plays in Turkey. It is a bad luck for Galatasaray that Umid will not be fit for this game but Galatasaray knows how to score with one striker as their midfield will be enhanced with talented players. I am sorry for Sivas which is the flash team of this season and being honest I really would like them to be conquer but according to Turkish League system they need to beat Galatasray 3-0 or with 4 goal difference as Turkish football Federation calculates the average between the 2 teams who have the same points and an away goal is very important like in UEFA and CHL games. I am excepting a win from Galatasaray and I believe odds are much higher that they should have been.
