Remeber a few seasons ago when everyone wanted a Chelsea/Barcelona Final in the CL and in two seasons it never happened?? Who thinks it might just happen this year now that no one expects it?

Frank Lampard is set to boost Chelseas hopes as he returns to the Squad thei week and the Blues will be very upbeat here after a season to forget earlier which could now be set to make Chelseas earlier season form and hassles withoin the club a loing distant mamory if they can advance to the final today against the one side who has regualy stopped them in recent years Liverpool,but Chelsea have reason to feel smug here,the own goal was a disaster for Liverpool in the first leg and matches between these two sides normally yield few goals and Chelsea don't yeild to many at home at all,in fact in their last 8 home games they have only conceeded 4 goals whole scoring 15 of their own,the only game in that run that ended scoreless was the 0-0 draw with this very side.

Liverpool have been the one English side who have even defying their League position kept on going in recent CL years,they have by far been the best performing of the English sides in the CL over the last 4 years and looked to have it all wrapped up last week at Anfield before the madness that was the own goal,they have named Torres in their starting line up after resting him on Saturday and that is enough to send shudders down the Blues suppotters spines after his last few months of Goal scoring brilliance that he has had,but I still think that Liverpool are behind the 8 ball here,They have been playing well but as the past few seasons have shown going to Stampford Bridge to get any sore of result is not easy for any side and although Liverpool have done it in this very compeittion luck has been on their side and this season may just be their time for Luck to run out and for Chelsea to get some instead.

These two sides as you would expect have played each other alot,72 times in the EPL at Chelsea with Chelsea winning 36 times,Liverpool 15 with 14 draws,in the CL these sides have almost become a regualr fixture with this being the 8th match since 2005,Chelsea have won once 1-0 in the first semi final of last seasons CL while the other 2 matches at Chelsea have both been goaless draws,But Chelsea did win 2-0 in the Carling Cup earlier in the peice this season,but this is the 4th time in the past 4 CL Campaigns that these two have met,Liverpool have knocked them out at this stage twice in recent years,but Chelsea have never lost at home to English opposition in the CL and Arsenal are the only English side to score against them at home in a European Match of any sort,Quarter or Semi in a 1-1 draw 4 years ago against Arsenal,Chelsea have also now gone Unbeaten in 11 CL home matches since a 1-2 loss to Barcelona in 06,they under Avram Grant have not conceeded a goal in their last 4 home CL matches and have only allowed one goal at the Bridge in the CL this season against Rosenberg,Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 8 CL matches and have scored a goal at least once in 8 of their last 9 CL Matches.

I'm sure that Chelsea supportters like Rich have noticed that while everyone was talking about the Arsenal/United battle for the Tittle that no one was paying any attention to the Blues who were warming up and now find themselves in form at the right time of the season and look ready to get that dream Final in the CL of a few seasons ago against the then other form side of Europe in Barcelona,this year when no one expected it could be the year it actually happens.

I think this will be a hard fought match in which Chelsea won't give an inch and Liverpool must score a goal to get an advantage but with that they leave themselves open to a counter and I would'nt put it past Chelsea to get one,alot has happened at Chelsea this season and the own goal by Riise could just be the catalyst for Chelsea to finally get one over on Liverpool,but I also think that if Liverpool score that Chelsea will also and if Chelsea can hold them out then they will settle for a goaless draw as well,I'm expecting a few long range shiots that wizz past the post on the wrong side of it and either a goaless draw or a 1-1 draw....Good Luck.
