Hawthorn v Richmond

The Hawks have been fantastic for the season so far and should win this week against the Tigers. The Tigers have played 2 great games in a row and should have won last week against the Bulldogs, but a draw was all they got.

There is no doubt the Tigers are on the improve but sustaining that level 3 games in a row against a top team like the Hawks will be too hard to do. The Hawks work so well defensively laying an extra 12 tackles a match than the Tigers which is a massive stat and the Tigers pressure will have to be top class to stand any chance.

Franklin, Roughead, Williams and Rioli are too good for their respective opponents and though the Tigers midfield has been excellent the last few weeks in particular captain Kane Johnson, Hawthorn’s will be too strong, experienced and fitter. The Tigers have done well offensively in the last two weeks as well, but the midfield pressure the Hawks will apply will severely limit the quality of disposal heading in to Richo, Brown and Riewoldt.

The Hawks really should win this game, the margin is the issue and picking it becomes harder due to the expected rain that is forecast for later in the day. The Hawks by less than 39.5 is a good bet if it rains, but I reckon they can win and cover also if it rains and if it doesn’t rain then they really should win and cover.
