Collingwood v North Melbourne

The other tough match to pick is this one at the MCG between a Collingwood team well beaten last week by Carlton and North Melbourne who I believe are still underrated most weeks by the bookies. Collingwood will be keen to get back on the winners list after their poor effort last week though Carlton did play well, while the Roos are 2-2 beating Melbourne and Richmond while losing to the Bombers and a match they should have won against the unbeaten Hawks.

For the entire year I have been waiting for the Pies to put in a poor performance and they did last weekend against a determined Carlton. I’m still not sure where they stand as their best matches it with the best while their worst has seen them lose to Melbourne, Carlton and a poor Bulldogs team last season all bottom teams when they played them. I felt they’d struggle without Buckley, Clement in defence and injuries to Rusling putting pressure on Travis Cloke and Rocca up forward and Prestigiacomo leaving holes in defence. Their first 3 rounds however were impressive though Richmond and Fremantle are likely bottom 8 teams while they were unlucky against the Lions in Brisbane. This match will show a lot about both teams.

Match-up wise I can’t split the teams, Gibson out for the Roos is a loss though Maxwell out for the Pies is arguably a bigger loss meaning young Brown will play in defence alongside Wakelin and it will be their job to stop Thompson, Edwards, Brown and Jones which will not be easy. Again the midfield battle is hard to pick a winner in and missing Burns may tip the balance in favour of the Roos. All of the Stats are very even. Again I could easily take the either team under 24.5 points but I feel like sticking my neck out this week and I’ll go with North against a Collingwood side that I’m still not sold on.
