The Cheifs season does'nt hinge on this game but to set themselves up for a realistic shot at maig the finals they must win this game, they have named an unchanged side from their last two starts both wins over the Brumbies,Highlanders and a win the week before also against the Bulls, they have a very good side and wil play this game well,if there is ever a time for the Cheifs to show their class that they regualy show to us all here in NZ in our National NPC tournament then it is now.
The Crusaders ring in a few changes for this match most notably Mc'Caw who is back this week, but the Crusaders may be unbeaten but they are losing players the longer the seasn go's on,gone are Mc'Donald,Thorne and Carter,Thorn is playing injured and the replacements while good for the Crusaders are not of the same quality as the players they have lost in Brett at first five and Hamilton at Fullback, they have also recalled Filipo from Wellingtons domestic comp for this match, while it's hard to fault the Crusaders this season injurys are catching up with them and could be their downfall this week.
The Crusadres have a great record against any of the Super 14 sides as has been their dominance of this competition, but their last regualr season loss came at home last year to the Cheifs 24-30 the only side to bet them at home last season.
Man for man across the park both teams are very equal both in the forwards and backs, the Crusaders don't have as much speed as the Cheifs and they won't be albe to go around them they must go straight through them and they will struggle to do so,the Cheifs have a very good backline with alot of defending talent in their ranks and in their forwards also,so it will come down to the playmakers for either side and that is where I think the Cheifs will get the better of the Crusaders in this match,Ellis and Brett for the Crusaders against Leonard and Donald for the Cheifs,I like Leonard far more than Elllis and I like Brett but would favour Donald as the player more likely to have a major bearing on this match.
The Cheifs are in great form and are playing at full strenght,if there is a side who the Crusaders won' twant to face right now it's this team, the Cheifs know what is at stake here and I have a feeling with all the excitemnet surrounding Hamilton this weekend thet the Cheifs can get the weekend off to a great start for the region by beating the unbeaten Crusaders in a thriller...Good Luck.
