Pitching for the Mets is Pelfrey, who gave up 2 runs in 5 innings of a 9-2 win against the Phillies...however, I watched this game, and Pelfrey looked solid. He didn't have the best of years last season in limited work...and that game against the Phillies was encouraging for both him and the Mets.
Throwing for the Nationals is Odalis Perez, he is 4-5 with a 4.02 ERA in 16 career appearances -- nine starts -- against the Mets. However, I don't think that means much...I just think that the Nationals who have lost 9 of their last 10 games in this early season, have found a funk that will last them at least through this tough series.
Overall, the Mets are coming off of a series loss to the Brewers, and they will be keen to get this first game under their belts. I'm taking the Mets tonight.
