Championship - Bristol City vs Wolves Football betting preview

"What is it with you and backing against your boys?" rdeacon texted me earlier in the week after i told him i fancied Wolves this weekend. Well maybe its because i feel our luck has finally run out!!!

Stoke City (1 win in 8) and Watford (1 win in 10) seem desperate to get Bristol City promoted, I only wish Hull would read the script!!!! But no matter how many points Stoke and Watford throw away, Bristol City have to get some points themselves to stand a chance of automatic promotion and are currently doing no better than them sides (1 win in 7).

In many ways this game is pivital in Bristol Citys season, Victory and they are almost guaranteed a play off spot but defeat could leave them looking over there shoulders at the sides in 5th 6th and 7th spots. West Brom host Watford in the late game so a Bristol victory would see them gain ground of one of these sides and go top of the table, if only for a few hours.

So what has gone wrong with Bristol City in the last 5 weeks?? well to be honest very little, they are simple getting the results many expected them to get at the start of the season, Lets remember they were expected to be battling in the bottom half of the table by many a pundit. Its been touched upto time and time again how lucky Bristol City have been this season, 13 goals scored in the final 10 mins (over 25% of there total goals) of which 10 of them goals either earnt them a draw or a win. Adriano Basso in goal has been voted best keeper outside the top flight for his match winning performances too, so yes, maybe they have had the lions share of the luck this season.

onto Wolves.....

Wolves sit just outside the play off but with games in hand on all 7 sides above them, so a victory is important for them too tomorrow. Wolves are just coming into some form, maybe at the perfect time, 3 wins in the last 4 games and they are finding the back of the net too. 17 goals scored in the last 8 matches is a vast improvement on the 17 they scored in the 21 matches before this run. A big reason for this goalscoring up turn is largely due to the transfer window signing of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake who has scored 9 goals already and is now Wolves leading scorer of league goals (he is also still Plymouths top scorer too).

A full house at Ashton Gate tomorrow could well be just what Bristol City need but only if things start to go well for them, If they find themselves a goal down a large crowd could well begin to get on the backs, Outplayed last week at struggling Southampton isnt the ideal tonic leading into this match, whereas Wolves had the luxury of having last week off and should be fresh and having won 4 of there last 5 away games will be confident of a good result.

Bristol City do have a good home record this season but Wolves equally have a good away record so this game could be nicely balanced, I will take Wolves though as the form is most certainly with them and odds of over 3.00 looks generous in my eyes.
