Sprem may be returning to a little better form, after years of injuries and bad results, but ... against Sugiyama?
Sugiyama cames from a fantastic week in Miami, reaching the last 16 in singles, beating Pivovarova, Medina Garrigues and Hantuchova (in a fabulous game, losing 3-0, 15-40 in the 3rd set and then winning by 7-5) and lost to Zvonareva, 2-6, 7-6, 0-6, clearly tired in the last set. Even so, she won the doubles tournament !
Even that Sprem is looking good in the qualifying, her form is still quite fragile and Sugiyama has played very well recently. The difference of 260 places in the ranking will be noticed, even that Sprem is by far a better player than being #296.
