What a match this will be,Liverpool vs Arsenal Part 3 in the space of a week, the last two have both ended in 1-1 draws, but both those games were played at Emirates and todays match is at Anfield and I give Liverpool every hope of winning this one and going through.
Liverpool Squad:Reina,Finnan,Arbeloa,Carragher,Hypia,Skrtel,Riise,Aurelio,Babel,Benayoun,Gerrad,Mascherano,Alonzo,Lucas,Torres,Voronin,Crouch,Kuyt and Itandje.
Arsenal Squad:Lehman,Diaby,Fabregas,Toure,Senderos,Gallas,Van Persie,Hleb,Flamini,Song,Gilberto,Clichy,Almunia,Adebayor,Bendtner,Eboue,Hoyte and Walcott.
While it's hard to fault the Gunners in their European Form this season,It's also hard to fault Liverpool either, twice now they have scored against Arsenal in the last week, once to tie the game up and once in which they took the lead, they now return home to a place that once again late in their season and especially late in the CL they have been ultra impressive, personally i think they have a wealth of experience compared to Arsenal and should be able to take advantage of that.Arsenal may have more overall talent in a few positions but the bulk of this Liverpool Squad are the same players who have fought off their last few Challenges in their last few seasons in the CL and know full well what to expect here today.
Many would say that Liverpool will sit back here and not attack and look for a goaless draw to advance, while I think that could happen also I have doubts over the Gunners letting that happen, after the first leg in which it ended 1-1 the Gunners now come to Anfield looking for a win or at least an away Goal with the possibility of taking it to extra time should Liverpool get one also,Arsenal still have a fantastic side who can beat anyone when they really put their heads into it and play well, for me Adebayor and Fabregas need to have stunners here today if the Gunners are to advance.
I expect Liverpool to crowd the MidField and frustrate the heck out of the Gunners and they have a good side who can do it also and with Torres up front are well capable of scoring on the counter and the longer this game go's on the more desperate the Gunners will become and if Liverpool can hold them out should allow a couple of chances for Torres towards the back end of either half.
Arsenal have won both their last Cup matches at Anfield in the FA Cup and Carling Cup last season and they were absoloute thrashings 1-3 and 3-6,but Liverpool won both League games well 4-1 and 1-0,Liverpool have won 5 of their last 5 home matches in the Premiership and have won them all convincingly against Everton,Reading,Newcastle,West Ham and Boro,Arsenal away from home of late have won 2,drawn 2 with a loss two games agao against Chelsea away,Liverpool are unbeaten at home in CL matches in their last 3 games and unbeaten in their last 6 CL games while the Gunners are unbeaten in their last 4 CL Matches.
I think that Benitez is a great tactican in big games like this one and has proved it time and time again,in the last Four CL campaigns he did it to Mourinho and Chelsea and after 3 draws this season against the Gunners I think he can get Liverpool to advance again here against Wergner and the Gunners.
I do worry that if Liverpool can get a goal that they may sit back and leave the game open for the Gunners to get an away goal, but surley they are not that silly and i expect them to leave it all on the field today.
I think it would be very foolish for Liverpool to sit back here and let Arsenal to have the Lions possesion and hope to hold them out and although I think this game will be a very tight affair I still think that at home Liverpool can find something to get them over the line,Torres has been in great form and Crouchs shot on Saturday was brillliant,Liverpool to advance is sitting at around the $1.60 mark which is decent but I like them to win this and advance outright really,Liverpool have shown that they can cope with the Gunners and for the last few seasons Liverpool have risen to the occasion in the CL while for a while now the Gunners in the CL have'nt at all,a very even game looms in prospect here but i'm backing Liverpool to advance here in the CL with a 1-0 or 2-1 win...Good Luck.
