Cork City host UCD today in the 5th round of the Eircom League.

Cork stand on 6th spot, already 8 points below leaders St. Patricks, as they've drawn all their games so far, with a GD of 2-2. They have some ambitions for this season, as their manager was confident they would start turning these draws into victories soon enough.

UCD are 7th, with a win, 2 draws and a defeat, with a GD of 4-4. They've played a strangely open match against Derry which they've lost 2-3, while away they beat poor Bray by 2-0 and lost against Finn Harps 0-1. UCD have lost some players since last season, but should be able to cope with that.

UCD welcome back Paul Byrne to their squad for Friday's clash with Cork City in Turner's Cross after the striker completed a one-match ban. Defender Alan Mahon and midfielder Alan McNally are doubtful for the match with injuries. UCD's manager said he fears that Cork City's desire to get their first win and re-enter the title fight may prove itself decisive, while his team might have some rest problems as the trip was long.
