I just have one qs m8 and I hope u'll be able 2 answer me before the race starts: bwin has Kauto Star on 1.66 odds. Sadly I don't know anything about horse racing but it's obvious he's a huge favourite. Is is that unlikely for him 2 win, that u staked your horse 9/10? Cheers, Rares

Hi mate, Kauto Star is 1.66 because he is one of the best horses in training. He ran 2nd in the gold cup last time out, and in my opinion this race could have left him feeling tired, as it was a gruelling race only 3 weeks ago. If he had won that race he wouldn't have been running here. I think this is a bit of an afterthought, as connections want to get a win in him to restore confidence. I like my tip alot though as he beat Kauto Star earlier o... read more »

Thanks a lot m8... I am grateful u took the time 2 answer me in such a complex way... As I've said before, I know next 2 nothing about horse racing but u're tip makes a lot of sense and now I'm sure 2 take it!... 10x again and I hope we'll both make some nice profit of Monets Garden :) P.s. I'm also going big on Blackburn for the weekend ;)

Well, I'm sorry to Rares. I was right that Kauto wouldn't run up to his best, but sadly neither did Monets Garden. Apologies buddy.

Hehe... np m8 :) if horse racing isn't hard 2 predict then I don't know which sport is... i'm just a bit annoyed cause I wanted 2 take each of the outsiders with small stakes but decided 2 go a bit bigger on Monets Garden... Seriously, u've got nothing 2 apologise 4 ;) P.s. still going even bigger on Blackburn, let's hope they'll perform better... Cheers Rich!

It is the first day of the Grand National meeting, and as usual eyes around the world will be focussed on Liverpool at 4.15 on Saturday to watch the worlds most exciting race. I have already had a few bets in the race at fancy prices and will write my preview for it on here soon, however we will concentrate on the Aintree version of the gold cup where there are only a disappointing 5 runners turning up.
Kauto Star is the main attraction here as he has been the best steeplechaser in recent times, until his next door neighbour Denman gubbed him at Cheltenham by running him into the ground and beating him fair and square in the gold cup. The fact that he comes here is a bit of an afterthought, and if he had won the gold cup, I doubt he would have turned up. Ruby Walsh ( his jockey ) reported that he knew after the first circuit that Kauto wouldn't win as he wasn't going at all well, and he didn't feel right. At odds ontoday I am more than happy to bypass him ( even more so as my tip beat him earlier in the season at this course ). Exotic Dancer hasn't won this year, and could be feeling the effects of a hard season as he didn't show anything like his usual old self in the gold cup with a never nearer 5th. The one plus point is that he has won round Aintree which is a totally different track to Aintree as it is very flat compared to the massive undulations and final gruelling hill that Prestbury park offers the horses.
Our Vic was a revelation in the Ryan Air Chase at the festival as he won like connections knew he could. This could well be down to the fitting of first time blinkers which often have a very positive effect on "quirky horses". Whether he can run 2 great races on the trot is open to debate as he usually needs a good break between runs, so he is passed over in this race.
Gungadu is another Paul Nicholls runner who has had a great season this year, and bypassed Cheltenham for this race, and is one to keep an eye on as he could be set for even better things than he has achieved so far. In the same ownership as Denman, he has done very little wrong, and now connections have decided he isn't an out and out stayer he is being aimed at more realistic targets.
However the tip, and a very confident one is Monets Garden. My tip has beaten Kauto Star at Aintree already this year. He has bypassed Cheltenham so comes here fresh. He has been aimed specifically at this race, and won round here last year ( which I tipped on here ). He only faces 4 rivals, all of which have question marks over them, and I can see him picking them off one by one as they could potentially all suffer from Cheltenham hangovers. I am very confident that the flying grey can win this race, and given all the factors we have to hand I am having a big bet.
