You should never be afraid of one horse, even if that horse is the best in the world, and head and shoulders above anything else in the race. Curlin is that horse, and he really should win this richest race in the world worth £1.8 million very easily indeed on all known form. He has won breeders cups and US classics, and won his prep race over here in a common canter. The only thing I'm hoping is that he has had enough of his holiday over here ( trained in the states normally and been over here 6 weeks now ) and has an off day.

Even if he doesn't I think Jalil can run him close. This son of Storm Cat cost an absolutely amazing $9.7 million as a yearling, which is a heck of a lot of money for a baby horse !!!!

He prettymuch flopped as a 3 year old on turf in England, but has been a revelation over here on this surface. in his prep race he actually clocked a faster time than Curlin did, although Curlin never really got out of 3rd gear.

Dettori who rides this evening is quite bullish about his chances saying that we have yet to see the best of Jalil, and I'm taking a punt that he could well overturn the US hotpot and start to pay back some of his ridiculous price tag .
